10 Delightful Things to Do When You’re Single on Valentine’s Day

It might seem like being single on Valentine's Day is the worst thing that could happen to you, in actual fact not being in a relationship might be a blessing in disguise. Even without a partner to keep you company, there are still plenty of activities you can do solo on Valentine's Day and you might actually enjoy them more this way! Whether you're looking for something fun to do at home or want to have a night out, there are plenty of Valentine's Day options here for you to choose from.

Here is my top list of the best things do to if you’re single on Valentine’s Day:

1. Star fish in your bed

To paraphrase Taylor Swift, this is your space, you make the rules. Get into bed and enjoy the fact that you get all of this luxurious cosiness all to yourself and you don’t have to share it.

2. Masturbate

Get out your favourite toy and love yourself, because we all know that we do it better ourselves anyway…

3. Buy yourself a gift

Treasure the fact that you don’t have to buy anything for anyone on this phony, hallmark holiday and instead treat yourself to that item you’ve been lusting after for weeks.

4. Have a spa treatment

Spas are a great way to relax and show yourself some love. When I’m feeling low I often book myself in for a 60 minute massage to just relax and unwind

5. Go on a date with yourself

Head to the cinema, enjoy a long, lazy lunch with a good book, or sign up for a dance class. Whatever you do make sure you’re doing it for you and your own enjoyment, not for anyone else.

6. Have a night in with friends

Chances are you’re not the only single one on Valentine’s day, so invite all of your single friends round and crack open several bottles of wine, do karaoke and watch cheesy rom-coms. You deserve it.

7. Volunteer

It’s very easy to be full of self-pity on Valentine’s day when you’re single, so take the chance to remind yourself that being alone isn’t the end of the world. Instead spend some time volunteering at a homeless shelter, hospice, or local animal shelter and put some love back into the world.

8. Take a gym class

Sign up for that gym class that you’ve been promising yourself you’ll try but never got around too. I’m going to give Les Mills Barre a go this month, even if it does mean getting up really early to travel to the gym in Manchester City Centre that offers it…

9. Try out a new recipe

I love to cook and am always experimenting with new and old recipes. Use Valentine’s day to push your cooking skills to the max and attempt a dish you’ve never been brave enough to before. You never know, you might just nail it and then you’ve got a secret weapon under your belt to impress friends and family in the future.

10. Binge watch a new show

With no one to fight with over control of the tv, take the opportunity to binge watch whatever you want without having to compromise for anyone.
